Concept / Design / Artworking / Production Management

This 13.5m long x 2m high timeline graphic was sheer joy to create, though not without its logistical challenges.

A wide variety of image types were used – photographs, illustrations, paintings, pages from books – so they needed married to create a seamless, flowing graphic. I also created chain link and padlock device to chart the timeline.

The timeline is designed to be read from right to left – you’ll note all the figures used face left to lead the visitor in that direction and improve flow.

Technical know-how

Originally designed to be produced as 11 individually wrapped panels, creating seamless joints and planning the placement of information was crucial. It was later replaced by a Fabric Tension Graphic further improving the seamless nature of the timeline.
